More Poetry

JOHN

Sorry girls, he's married
Read the words on tv
I didn't get harried
It didn't matter to me.

He gave us Norwegian Wood and Nowhere Man
So many others, he took my heart away
He sang with a voice like no one else can
John Winston Lennon is his name.

People called him the witty one
He was the first one there
He was the leader said some
He was in my life everywhere.

Toppermost of the poppermost is what he said
He achieved that and so much more
If there's a toppermost in Heaven's bed
You know John is standing at the door.

RINGO

Love, love me do
Sang John, Paul, George and Ringo too
Although Ringo wasn't on this song
It didn't take him very long.

He sang his own version years later
He said, "This one's for you, my dear mates"
Ringo and the All Starrs was the name
But it wasn't quite the same.

Pete was there first, Ringo was the best
He stood out among the rest
We love our Ringo, he's a star
He's managed to make it pretty far.

He and Thomas the Tank were on tv
It was a good show, he aimed to please
His movie attempts left us with a smile
But he met Barbara so it was all worthwhile.

Ringo's son is a drummer like dear old dad
He drums for the Who and he's not bad
I'm sure Ringo is proud of his Zak
A chip off the old block, as he pats him on the back.

Ringo drummed his way into our hearts
And there he will stay, he will never depart
Traveling with his band all over the land
Won't change who he is, we love the man.

He's our drumming Beatle and forever will it be so
In the end, he'll still remain our Ringo.

About the Author

Robin Roberts is 43 years old and has been a Beatles fan her whole life, since she was little girl.  Her favorite Beatle has always been John although she does love them all, of course.  She is the mother of two girls, ages 13 and 12.  She volunteers for many sporting events and community events, and she is also a Girl Scout troop leader and has been for six years.
She works as a secretary but has always loved to write.  She has had short stories, articles and poetry published in various children's magazines in the past, and just recently had some poetry, a couple of articles and song parodies (all Beatles related) published in various Beatles magazines.  Beatlezine is doing a cover story on her song parodies in an upcoming issue and she is very excited about that.

Tell Robin Roberts what you thought of her poems!
