New Poems

By Sharon Richards

Walls That Bridge

I was emotionally stressed
The hurricane had blown through
Left destruction in its wake
My plans were all a mess
Then I looked- where were you?

Oh yes, I’d taken you down
To protect you from the storm
The walls were barren of your image
John, eventually had to admit
I was mentally distraught and forlorn

It wasn’t until nature’s fury
Days past and clean up ensuing
That I decided to replace
All that was blank
A lift in my spirits pursuing

And I thought that was so silly John
Simply re-hanging pictures of you
That it could alleviate the depression
The despair of all that had occurred
Reversing what that hurricane made me do

Where Love Happens

You set me off kilter
You set me out of bounds
I can’t seem to balance
Whenever you’re around

I want to be so silly
Kiss you and hold your hand
I can’t fight this feeling
I’m in love with a brown-eyed handsome man

You make my head all a swirl
Thoughts of lust I can’t control
This wasn’t my intention
I‘m in love and feel thirteen years old

I wasn’t planning on this chance
I don’t know what to do
Loving you, the romance
What’s next?  I haven’t a clue

So please forgive my blushing
When you know you are the cause
I need you in my life my love
No more do I idly pause

No more to hide the love away
My feelings I have to show
For you I’ve tried in vain
I will no longer stem passion’s flow

Though not poetry for the ages
By no stretch am I a master of verse
Yet know the love is honest
That comes to you across our universe

About the Author

Sharon Richards lives in Orlando, FL.  She holds a degree in Broadcasting but her heart is held by John Lennon.  Spending years as a video production assistant and a decade in corporate America one element was consistent, she was always writing. When her business writing collided unexpectedly with her passion for John Lennon’s music, an explosion of creativity resulted.  “I've never been so passionate," Sharon says. " Studying John Lennon changed all that.  Inspiration is certainly at the base of most of my work.  I hope Beatle fans are open to it and enjoy reading my poetry as much as I have enjoyed writing it."
