By Stan Wilson

40 years ago, has it been that long?
40 years since we heard their song.
40 years since we heard the girls scream.
40 years...now seems like a dream.

24 years hasn't eased the pain.
24 years...still feels like rain.
24 years...can't imagine why.
24 years...oh why did he die?

3 years now since he's been gone.
3 years now without the sun.
He was also gear and mod,
Now he has gone on to God.

We still have 2 in 2004.
We still have 2 out of 4.
Guess we're all still a little selfish.
Guess we all wanted just a little bit more.

We come to the Fest to celebrate,
We still remember the arms of 8.
We remember our dads said "Turn down that noise!"
But we will never, ever forget our boys.

About the Author

Stan Wilson is 51 years old and has been a Beatles fan since he saw them on the "Ed Sullivan Show" in 1964. This is his first poem. He admits that at first he preferred the Dave Clark Five because all the girls seemed to like the Beatles, but soon had to agree that the Beatles were better!  His favorite Beatle is John, but he believes they were all better as a group than they were apart, and counts among his other interests the Three Stooges, the Titanic and Bing Crosby.  He lives in Indiana with his wife and two teenagers who are, as he puts it, "still learning" when it comes to the Beatles!

Tell Stan Wilson what you thought of his poem!
